When and How to Contact EPD
Except where noted otherwise, you should call 9-1-1 anytime you need EPD response.  Many of our business employees and Town of Elkton citizens are reluctant to call 9-1-1 for issues that are not life-threatening.  However, in the arrangement we have with the County for Police Dispatch, all request for police response (emergency and non-emergency) and handled by the 9-1-1 operator.  Please do not hesitate to call 9-1-1 to report suspicious, threatening or concerning behavior.  It will also help us serve you better if you are very clear with the 9-1-1 dispatcher about whether or not you want the responding officer to contact you personally.  If you want an officer to contact you as part of his/her response to a non-emergency call, please specify this request during your conversation with the 9-1-1 dispatcher.

As a merchant or business employee, there may be circumstances when it is appropriate to call EPD for assistance.  Several business-related examples are given below to help give you some general guidance.  This list is not all-inclusive.
